Jennifer St. James
Jennifer St. James is an artist who specializes in figurative art, portraiture and still-life painting.
Born in Houston, Texas, she moved to Crested Butte, Colorado, at the age of 16. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she graduated from the school of journalism, majoring in advertising with an emphasis in technology, arts and media.
Wanting to return to her love of art, she attended Schissler Academy of Fine Arts, a classical art school that uses the teaching approach of the old masters. This is where she studied representational art with a focus on the human figure, portraiture and animals. It was there that she won the title of best student portfolio.
She also studied under John Reger from the Anthony Ryder Atelier school. Using classical techniques, she portrays contemporary subject matter in oil and charcoal. She is inspired by the life and history of her subject matter, which she captures in her art.
Her work was most recently exhibited at Independence Gallery in Loveland, Colorado. She currently works as a commission artist in Windsor, Colorado.
