Ken Sathra

Marie-Louise Dautzenberg.

My name is Ken Sathra.  After retirement from a 41 year career in high tech I decided I wanted to pursue the skills of becoming an artist by learning from those who paint like the masters.

I have always enjoyed sketching and painting but it was mainly for recreation, so after retirement I began attending Schissler Academy of Fine Art in Loveland. I attended for 4 years gaining a good sound understanding of sketching, how to mix and blend colors, adding contrast to my art and developing a deeper love for fine art.  I continue to learn from a northern Colorado artist as I am always looking for ways to improve and further develop my skills.

My wife Mary and I live in Johnstown, Colorado. At the present time I enjoy painting realism in landscape, still life, portraits and wildlife, but I am always open to broaden my creative endeavors. In 2006 I started building a wooden boat and finished it in 2009.

During the spring and summer months I enjoy taking my grandchildren fishing in my boat. I also enjoy playing golf, growing flowers and taking care of my yard.

My goal in the future is to create paintings that will bring the joy I receive from painting to those who view it. The world is a beautiful place so let’s all enjoy it by hanging an original piece of fine art that was created by a Colorado artist in our homes or business.
