Holiday Art Show

EAsterseals Wings

This holiday Art Show features unique work by unique individuals.

An array of blue dogs, llamas, flamingos, and colorful landscapes with lollipop-style trees.

All are pieces of art that will be on display at Independence Gallery in early November.

The artwork is created by adults with
physical or intellectual disabilities through a program with Easterseals Colorado.

“Art classes have been a very popular part of our programming for over 10 years,” Katie Dockery, director of Easterseals points out. “It is so exciting to see our participants develop new skills and confidence.

Their artwork is so pure and spontaneous—so genuine.”

Annette, one of the artists, says, “I really enjoy doing all the different projects and using my creativity.”

Heather enjoys having fun with her friends in class, and has been a part of the art classes for about five years. She adds, “I have learned to slow down so that I do a better job on the artwork.”

Independence Gallery is celebrating its 12th year, and has graciously provided space for the show for
several years.

Katie Dockery states, “Billie Colson is so supportive of the community. Her assistance with our holiday art show means a lot to us and our artists. Seeing their work in a ‘real gallery’ is a great source of pride.”

All proceeds from the sale of artwork goes directly to the Easterseals art program.

The show will open December 10th and run through the 18th. The opening reception is on Friday, December 13, during Night
on the Town, 6-9 p.m.

Easterseals provides a variety of home and community-based services equipping adults with disabilities opportunities to live, learn, work and play as a vital part of their own community.
