Dorothy Raymond

Fiber Art by Dorothy Raymond.

Dorothy Raymond uses fabrics and thread to create abstract studies of color and shape.

She tells a story in the assemblage of fabric that she cuts, layers and stitches.

Any fabric or material that can be sewn might appear in her art quilts. She primarily uses collage with free-motion machine stitching to add details with thread.

Dorothy’s art has been juried into textile art shows such as Visions, Sacred Threads, Art Quilt Elements, and Studio Art Quilt Associates global exhibitions. Her fiber art has also been juried into fine art shows, and is in private collections throughout the United States.

She is a former Board member of Studio Art Quilt Associates. She continues to volunteer for SAQA, coordinating the Juried Artist Member program.

Dorothy retired from the practice of law in 2017 and now devotes her time to art. However, throughout her long successful legal career, she never stopped creating.
